2005 Advanced Institute for School LIbrary Media Specialists
Sponsored by OELMA and Wright State University
Offering timely professional development for the school librarian.
The 2005 Advanced Institute for School Library Media Specialists has been a
goal of OELMA for the past few years. Ever since licensure requirements changed,
OELMA has been aware of the need to provide ongoing professional development
opportunities for school library media specialists, in a single statewide effort.
Our regional workshops have been very popular but OELMA wanted a way to also
bring consistent professional development to every region. The Board decided
on the concept of a Speaker's Bureau to provide continuity to each presentation.
Three professional development modules are being planned by OELMA, in cooperation
with Wright State University. The first module, Can You Find the Evidence-based
Practice in Your School Library, debuts in July 2005. OELMA will also offer
the first Train-the-Trainer workshop to begin to build a Speaker's Bureau. Please
see the links on the left for registration forms and additional information
about the professional development opportunities that are offered in the 2005
Advanced Institute for School Library Media Specialists. The deadline for the
Train-the-Trainer Application is April 29, 2005. The Train-the-Trainer workshop
will be held July 19th.
If the Speaker's Bureau is successful, this first module, Can You Find the
Evidence-based Practice in your School Library, will be presented in each
of OELMA's regions by members of the Speaker's Bureau during the course of the
2005-06 school year.
