Save the date, March 9, 2013! OELMA will host midwinter on that day in Columbus. More details about time and place will follow. Midwinter 2013 will focus on the School Library Media Specialist evaluation. The midwinter conference will include a panel discussion of school librarians from around the state that have agreed to pilot the evaluation. I might add that President-elect, Susan Yutzey, worked tirelessly to complete the evaluation tool and had it ready to go at the beginning of December for those who had volunteered to pilot the evaluation rubric. Thanks also go to Kathy Fredrick, Deb Logan, Meghan Harper, Marie Sabol, and Cherie Pandora for their significant contributions. A tentative outline of the day follows (subject to change, of course):
Presentation of the evaluation tool and panel discussion by pilot participants.
Breakout sessions to include:
Setting goals for Your Professional Growth
Creating Student Learning Objectives to Impact Student Learning
How to Evaluate Your Library Program
Building Assessments to Gather Evidence of Student Growth (K-5 and 6-12)
Hope to see you in Columbus on March 9th for this very important midwinter conference regarding the school library media specialist evaluation.
Wishing you all a restful, peaceful and joyous holiday season!
