The Researchers

Dr. Ross Todd Dr. Carol Kuhlthau

The researchers selected to carry out this project are Dr. Ross Todd and Dr. Carol Kuhlthau, both with outstanding international reputations in the field of school library research. They have recently been named the directors of CISSL, the Center for International Scholarship in School Libraries.

The following points highlight the rich background these researchers bring to Student Learning through Ohio School Libraries.

1.

Extensive research experience that focuses on the micro-dimensions of student learning through school libraries.

2.

Research on student learning through the school library that makes use of a multi-dimensional conception of learning, rather than being limited to measuring learning through single dimensions, such as exam scores, or state-wide assessment tests.

3. 

Research on student learning that has utilized a range of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

4. 

The support of an international center -- CISSL:   Center for International Scholarship in School Libraries at Rutgers University whose goal is explicitly targeted at understanding the dynamics of student learning through school libraries.

5.  

Access to international scholars who also reside in the Rutgers School of Communication, Information and Library Studies.
